Bridge Bonus

Want to make friends, have fun and keep your mind active? Then book into Patcham Community Association’s beginners bridge classes. Bridge is arguably the greatest card game of all so playing the game itself is very entertaining but there is a bonus. Research has shown that undertaking some form of activity that tests your mind helps to keep you mentally agile, whilst the social interaction involved with learning and playing the game in bridge clubs can stave off cognitive decline. What more do you need to know to get involved with this fantastic activity?

Well the charity responsible for the development of bridge in England - English Bridge Education and Development - is so convinced that the game provides many benefits to the health and well being of those who play it that they are in the process of establishing a robust academic study into the benefits of playing bridge building on the incredibly worthwhile initial research project that has already been undertaken amongst bridge players in England by Diarmuid McDonnell, Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Stirling where bridge players reported high levels of wellbeing, optimism and sociability.

So don’t delay book your place now. A taster course of 4 classes start on Tuesday 19th September at 7.30pm at the Patcham Community Centre - the cost is just £30 for the whole course. The teacher is Will Adler. You can book your place by contacting him via email at will_adler@live.co.uk or on 07890507291. Enjoy!
